Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail\-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our medical center in the UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day\-to\-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, monitoring receivables and payables, and supporting the preparation of financial reports.

The ideal candidate should have experience in accounting, preferably within a medical center, clinic, hospital, or healthcare environment, and should be familiar with UAE accounting practices, VAT requirements, insurance/medical billing, and healthcare\-related financial transactions.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting

• Maintain accurate and up\-to\-date accounting records and financial transactions.
• Record daily income, expenses, receipts, payments, journal entries, and other accounting transactions.
• Perform bank, cash, credit card, and other account reconciliations.
• Maintain the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial reports.
• Assist with month\-end and year\-end closing activities.
• Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate cash records.
• Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial transactions.

Accounts Receivable

• Monitor patient, corporate, and insurance receivables.
• Record and reconcile payments received from patients and insurance companies.
• Follow up on outstanding invoices and overdue balances.
• Prepare aging reports and regularly review outstanding receivables.
• Reconcile insurance claims and payments with accounting records.
• Coordinate with the medical billing/insurance team to resolve discrepancies and rejected claims.

Accounts Payable

• Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders, delivery notes, and supporting documents.
• Process supplier payments and maintain accurate accounts payable records.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor payment schedules and ensure timely settlement of approved invoices.

UAE VAT \& Compliance

• Maintain proper records required for UAE VAT compliance.
• Assist in preparing VAT\-related reports and supporting documentation.
• Ensure transactions are appropriately recorded in accordance with applicable UAE tax requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and management when required.
• Support the organization during financial and tax audits.

Medical Center\-Specific Duties

• Reconcile daily collections from reception, cashiers, POS terminals, online payments, and bank deposits.
• Monitor revenue generated from consultations, procedures, laboratory services, pharmacy, and other medical services, as applicable.
• Reconcile insurance claims, approvals, settlements, deductions, and rejected claims.
• Track doctor/consultant revenue and commissions where applicable.
• Review discrepancies between the medical billing system and accounting system.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and patient\-related information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CMA, CPA, or equivalent is an advantage.
• Minimum 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a UAE medical center, clinic, hospital, or healthcare organization.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with UAE VAT and accounting requirements.
• Experience with accounting software/Zoho systems.
• Strong MS Excel skills.
