Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Engineer with strong experience in the transport and heavy equipment rental industry, particularly within the oil \& gas sector.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of transport and equipment rental operations, including buses, heavy equipment, cranes, water tankers, diesel tankers, and other oil \& gas support vehicles. The candidate must be capable of identifying new business opportunities, managing RFQs and tenders, preparing commercial proposals, conducting margin analysis, and developing long\-term relationships with contractors and oil \& gas clients.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the transport and oil \& gas sectors.
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, EPC companies, main contractors, subcontractors, and other major clients.
- Generate leads and actively pursue opportunities for vehicle, bus, heavy equipment, crane, tanker, and transportation rentals.
- Conduct market research and monitor upcoming projects, tenders, mobilization requirements, and client requirements.
- Prepare and maintain a strong pipeline of potential projects and customers.
- Negotiate commercial terms, rental rates, contract conditions, and payment terms with clients.
Oil \& Gas Knowledge
- Possess strong knowledge of oil \& gas site requirements and contractor requirements.
- Understand site access, vehicle/equipment compliance, mobilization requirements, and operational requirements for\-related projects.
- Have practical knowledge of CICPA, DAFRA, and other relevant approvals, permits, and access requirements.
- Coordinate with Operations, Fleet, HR, Procurement, and Commercial teams to ensure vehicles and equipment can be mobilized as required.
- Understand the compliance requirements for vehicles and equipment operating on oil \& gas sites.
Transport \& Equipment Rental Knowledge
The candidate should have strong knowledge of the rental and operational requirements for:
- Staff and passenger buses
- Light vehicles and 4x4 vehicles
- Heavy vehicles
- Heavy equipment
- Mobile and crawler cranes
- Water tankers
- Diesel/fuel tankers
- Other specialized oil \& gas transportation equipment
The candidate should understand vehicle specifications, utilization, operating costs, maintenance requirements, mobilization costs, rental structures, and equipment availability.
RFQ \& Tender Management
- Review and analyze RFQs, RFPs, tenders, and client inquiries.
- Understand technical and commercial requirements before submitting quotations.
- Coordinate with Operations and Fleet teams to confirm vehicle/equipment availability.
- Prepare commercial offers, quotations, and tender submissions.
- Identify tender risks, exclusions, commercial conditions, and operational requirements.
- Follow up with clients from RFQ stage through negotiation, award, and contract finalization.
- Maintain proper records of submitted quotations and tender opportunities.
Commercial \& Margin Analysis
- Prepare detailed costing and margin analysis for transport and equipment rental projects.
- Calculate expected revenue, operating costs, manpower costs, fuel, maintenance, mobilization/demobilization, permits, insurance, and other project\-related expenses.
- Determine the expected gross margin and profitability before submitting commercial offers.
- Review project profitability and identify opportunities to improve margins.
- Compare market rental rates with internal operating costs to ensure commercially viable pricing.
- Support management in making decisions on pricing, discounts, and contract negotiations.
Client \& Contract Management
- Develop strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
