About the role
Job Description
The Engineer \- Repair Capability Development plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization's ability to repair aviation and aero engine components. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing repair processes by setting process parameters and validating repairs through First Article Inspection (FAIR). The role supports expanding repair capabilities across multiple engine types while ensuring strict compliance with regulatory bodies and OEM standards. The incumbent drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance repair methodologies within the Aviation \& Aero Engine MRO division.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze current repair capabilities to identify gaps in tooling, skills, and processes across various engine types.
- Develop and execute action plans to expand and enhance repair capabilities, including the introduction of new repair technologies and methods.
- Ensure repair planning and execution comply with aviation regulations such as FAA, EASA, and OEM standards.
- Maintain comprehensive component capability records and documentation aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) justifications and conduct technical and financial evaluations for new equipment and tooling.
- Validate repair procedures to confirm effectiveness and compliance, and prepare FAIR packages for OEM approval.
- Ensure adherence to company quality, safety, health, and environmental standards within repair development activities.
- Implement Lean Six Sigma methodologies to identify opportunities for process improvement and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the repair capability development function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, GD\&T certification, and OEM repair or technical certifications (e.g., Rolls\-Royce, GE, Pratt \& Whitney) are preferred.
- AS9100 or aviation quality systems certification is advantageous.
- NDT Level I/II certification is a plus where applicable.
- 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in aviation, MRO, or related industrial environments.
- Proven experience in repair development and validation, process engineering or capability development, and technical problem\-solving in complex operational settings.
- Experience supporting new repair capability setups, process optimization, or technical improvement initiatives.
Skills
- Advanced proficiency in developing and optimizing repair processes with alignment to OEM and regulatory standards.
- Strong technical problem\-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues related to repair tooling and component performance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory compliance including FAA, EASA, and OEM requirements, and expertise in documentation and validation.
- Expertise in preparing FAIR documentation and managing repair validation procedures for certification.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in CAPEX evaluation, technical justification, and supporting investment decisions.
- Proficiency in applying Lean Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Advanced analytical thinking and sound engineering judgment based on technical data analysis.
- Effective communication and technical coordination skills to liaise with cross\-functional teams.
