THE POSITION

Van Oord is executing major dredging and ground improvement projects. For all these projects, Van Oord's geotechnical engineers provide technical input during both the tender and execution stages.

As a Geotechnical Engineer within our Dredging \& Infra business unit, you will be involved in the design and engineering of Van Oord's projects across the UAE. We are looking for both experienced and early\-career geotechnical engineers to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of these exciting projects.

YOUR IMPACT

You are the primary point of contact for all geotechnical concerns throughout our projects, from concept and design to execution. Whether it involves geotechnical assessments, engineering solutions, risk evaluations, or the implementation of innovative applications, you play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and practical designs. Through detailed analyses, design checks, and engineering solutions, you help lay the foundation for the successful execution of our projects.

At Van Oord, we are also actively driving the digitalization and automation of geotechnical design processes. We encourage you to contribute to these developments and help shape the future of geotechnical engineering within our organization.

In this role, you will:

• Plan, supervise, and interpret geotechnical site investigations and soil surveys;
• Prepare technical advice and design recommendations related to foundations, retaining structures, settlements, stability, ground improvement, and the impact on existing surrounding structures;
• Actively contribute to the development of new geotechnical design tools and methodologies;
• Provide geotechnical expertise and advice to internal stakeholders across the organization;
• Apply advanced soil modelling techniques and automated design processes to deliver efficient and innovative solutions.

Job Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field;
• Have proven experience in the design and execution of ground improvement projects, such as vibro compaction, vibro replacement, dynamic compaction, surcharge and vertical drains, or other soil improvement techniques;
• For the Medor Geotechnical Engineer position, preferably have at least 4 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in a similar role;
• Have experience with geotechnical software, including PLAXIS and Deltares D\-Series. Experience with Python, automation, and digital design tools is considered an advantage;
• Possess a solid understanding of geotechnical site investigations, ground improvement design methodologies, and construction monitoring;
• Have an excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage;
• Are available on a full\-time basis and willing to travel regularly to project locations across the Middle East.
